The Extraordinary Congress of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has come to a close without passing a motion for a proposed expansion of the number of teams in the elite division from 16 to 20.
In a surprising turn of events, the much publicized and controvercial motion was withdrawn from the floor of congress even before it got a hearing.
Reasons for the withdrawal was given as "more research needed to fine tune the proposal for future approval."
The move virtually took the shine off congress which was expecting fierce arguments both for and against the motion. Alas, the expected tussle most gathered were awaiting failed to materialise as the motion was withdrawn.
President of the GFA, Kwasi Nyantakyi who presided over the congress expressed satisfaction at the attendance and quality of arguments at the congress.
