Ghana and Rennes striker Gyan Asamoah believes that the best news to have come out of the Black Stars over the past week has been the fact that their star midfielder Michael Essien has regained his fitness after a long lay-off through injury.
Speaking of Essien's return to the pitch, which saw him in action at the weekend for his club Chelsea during their loss to Manchester United in the FA Community Shield, Gyan said, "He is the main man of the Ghana team. I am happy he is back and playing so well for Chelsea."
Although ultimately the decision of when Essien is recalled to the team lies with the coach, Gyan is confident that when Ghana begin their qualifying campaign for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, Essien will be in the starting XI. |
