Asamoah Gyan explained his strip show for Sunderland's away fans after victory at Blackpool over the weekend.

Gyan, the Black Cats record record signing, stripped to his underwear and threw his jersey and shorts to the travelling fans at Bloomfield Road, then talked about life after Darren Bent.

"This meant a lot to the fans, the players and the manager," Gyan said.

"We had to turn in a good performance and we delivered. It's obvious the manager felt bad after Darren's move, and before the game he tried to make sure we forgot about it.

"There's no doubt it was a big blow at the time, but we have a lot of players who are capable of doing well for Sunderland."

With the departure of Bent, it is now time for Gyan to justify his 13m pound record tag which brought him from French side Renne at the end of August 2010.
