  Mido Secures Transfer At Ajax

Egyptian striker Mido has revealed that he has agreed a permanent move to Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam.

The 27-year-old had been poised to join Ajax on loan last month, but the deal seemed to have collapsed after the Eredivisie club failed to reach a deal with Middlesbrough over his transfer.

However, the former Tottenham striker travelled to Holland last night to join Martin Jol's charges after he was deemed surplus to requirements at Boro.

"I have officially ended my spell with Middlesbrough and I am travelling to Amsterdam tonight to join Ajax," Mido told Filgoal on Monday.

"I reached an agreement over a permanent transfer to Ajax, rather than a loan move."

Mido is delighted to be re-united with Jol, who he worked with at Tottenham after joining them from Roma.

"I have a good relationship with Martin Jol, I spent a fine spell with Ajax before and the fans like me. I hope to rediscover my form there," he added.

"But I know the competition will be tough, with the presence of forwards like Mounir El-Hamdaoui and Luis Suarez."

Mido will be hoping the move will help him secure a place back in the Egyptian national side after a torrid spell at Middlesbrough saw him fall out of favour with the national selectors.
