Samir Nasri has been ruled out of action for up to a month after successfully completing a knee operation on Wednesday.
The France international sustained the injury whiles playing fro Arsenal against Liverpool on the opening day.
The 23-year-old was able to complete the full 90 minutes at Anfield, but will now be missing from the Gunners' plans until the end of September.
The injury will further weaken Arsene Wenger's midfield options ahead of Saturday's game at home to Blackpool with captain Cesc Fabregas' availability uncertain.
